Pastor Hezekiah Asim is a born Kelabit mix Chinese who grew up in Sarawak. A native Tribe that God chose to move in 1973 of the well documented Bario Revival, the first in the Nations History.

Venturing out in his earlier years to the neighboring state of Sabah for over ten years in ministering, serving, performing and teaching the indigenous instrument called the Sape’, today he is based in his native state. A Calling he felt led to return to share and inspire the next generation of traditional musicians in praise and worship.

Tribal Dance
Dance is part of Sarawak’s richest culture amongst the Tribal Groups. As an ancestral heritage Ps. Hezekiah has mastered the Orang Ulu warrior dance and Sape’ (Borneo Traditional Boat Lute) in both traditional and contemporary for the past 15 years, a skill taught by his masters based in Ulu Baram and also Asap, Belaga .

Theology
He is a full-time pastor with a degree in Theology whilst honing his gifting as a Traditional Musical Artist who actively collaborates with local and international artists’.

Hezekiah Asim ever collaborated with few local and international artist in concerts and also recording projects both circulars and Christian works with Dayang Nurfaizah (Peninsular Malaysia), Patrick Leong (Peninsular Malaysia), Faizul AF (Sabah), Jun Jun (Sabah), Jonathan Tse (Sabah), Roger Wang (Sabah), Amos Chayadi (Indonesia), Trevor Jalla (Australia), Hallan Hashim, Sada Borneo (Sarawak) and many more.

Contributions
Well versed in the collective traditional instruments of both Sabah & Sarawak, he had numerous teaching engagements at schools, churches and even colleges, conducting workshops and seminars about such traditional instruments and of its cultural heritage.

Albums
Hezekiah Asim has produced 3 Albums. His debut album “Psalms 150” where praises derived from string and pipe instruments that inspired the 13 Track instrumental ensembles of virtually unknown or forgotten sounds in today’s modern instrument context.

His second album “Doaku Untuk Malaysia” comprise of a multi-lingual album of friends coming together in raising prayer through songs for the Nation and finally “Sapeq Irau” - Rhythm of the Kelabit Highlands his third album highlight the various Tribal sounds through the beautiful and unique Sape’.
